Emma McMullen
Emma grew up northwest of Chicago in Mount Prospect. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014 with a double major in political science and psychology with a concentration in child development. Some of her favorite times at UIUC were with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, both working with the other “bigs” and with her “little.” These experiences were a large part of what helped solidify her decision to pursue a path toward child law.

She took one year off after graduation and now attends Loyola University Chicago, School of Law where she is a part of the Civitas Child Law fellowship program. Emma will be clerking at the Family Defense Center this summer. She hopes after graduation she will work within the foster care system to advocate for the children, and eventually help reform policy to better serve those who are affected by it.

Emma joined the Emerging Leaders Board in December 2014 after falling in love with the Center For Law and Social Work and the work they do. She loves being surrounded by other passionate professionals who constantly inspire her.
